A decade ago, fueled with love, courage, and a calling to help others, we founded The Ethan Lindberg Foundation. After spending over 600 nights in the hospital with our son Ethan during his seven precious years, we encountered countless families navigating the toughest moments of their lives. We witnessed gaps in the systems meant to support families, and from our experience, The Ethan Lindberg Foundation was born. Our mission was clear: to make a profoundly challenging experience a little easier for families like ours.
We want to thank you for already being integral to this journey. Your support has made everything possible, and as we stand on the brink of this next decade, we want to share our vision for the future with you. We hope you will continue to stand with us as we move forward.
Where We’ve Been:
Community Impact: Raised $4 million and devoted over 50,000 hours to our mission.
Housing Support: Provided over 3,000 nights of housing for families in hospitals, giving them one less thing to worry about during difficult times.
Financial Assistance: Distributed grants to families in 35 states and funded music therapy in the cardiac ICU at Boston Children’s to ease the burden and bring joy.
Cardiac Research: Funded research around the HLHS and single ventricle congenital heart disease, including innovative treatments for patients. We’ve created original research and published articles with our amazing research team on the financial, social, and emotional impact of having a child with complex congenital heart disease.
Family Advocacy: We’ve spoken at events, written articles, and advocated directly to medical teams and institutions on behalf of the needs of the families we serve.
Grief Support: We’ve supported grieving mothers through powerful weekend retreats that offered comfort, connection, and a path forward when they needed it most.
Heart Strong Message: Our message of resilience, embracing challenges, and transforming heartbreak into a force for good has resonated worldwide, inspiring others to live courageously and impact their communities.

Where We’re Going:
As we move forward, we continue to focus our mission on supporting families in the long haul of raising and loving their children with complex illnesses and disabilities. We feel called to take the Heart Strong message to the next generation - empowering them with the strength and resilience to face life’s challenges and make a positive impact.
Build a Heart Strong Generation
Play Heart Strong: Partner with local youth sports organizations to instill character, leadership, and resilience in young people while ensuring kids can participate, regardless of their financial situation.
Heart Strong Scholars Fund: Support siblings who grow up in families affected by complex illnesses with scholarships for education, sports, and life-enriching experiences.
Motherhood Leadership Project:
Empower mothers navigating unexpected motherhood journeys by helping them realize their personal dreams and leadership potential alongside their caregiving roles.
Host events, content, and personal development opportunities to support these incredible women in bringing their unique visions to life.
Healthcare Policy Advocacy:
Together with our dedicated team of nurse scientists, nurses, doctors, and advocates, we want to drive policy change that financially supports families caring for complexly ill children.
